We are finally catching up after a very successful Record Store Day week. We want to thank Ben Hughes, who put together our RSD musical lineup. We want to thank the bands: Merlin (who always brings some excitement, this time we had candles vibrate off our shelves), Man Vs. Animal, Fake Fancy, Cop Knock, Hypnotronic Man, and Odd-O-Matic. Having live music makes for a short, 12- hour work day. We also want to thank Shawn Stewart for bringing in his protegee, 16-year-old Natalie Prauser, who played an acoustic set, that made the shoppers, put down their records and listen.
We want to thank the folks at the Plantain District Food Truck, for serving our customers hot Cuban coffee and breakfast, in line, so no one had to lose their place. We also want to thank The Jeweled Gypsy clothing truck, who soldiered on, despite the heavy rains.
Most of all, we wanted to thank our old and new customers, who ate, drank, listened to great music and still found time to SHOP!
On a more personal note, in the midst of preparing and participating in RSD, I had to say good-bye, to my beloved older sister, Theresa, who was me and my sister, Angie’s, Tiger Mom and Protective Father, all starting at the age of 7. She had to grow up way too early and had to leave this earth, way too soon. She was a true Big Sister! Thank you, Theresa.
