It subsequently debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart and strengthened the innovative producer’s legacy. Now to follow it up, Shadow once again worked with Mass Appeal for The Mountain Has Fallen, his new 4-track EP. The EP kicks off with “Systematic,” his collaboration with Nas that was part of the soundtrack to HBO’s Silicon Valley. Next up is “Horror Show,” Shadow’s first collaboration with Danny Brown. The Detroit MC spaces out on the off-kilter beat with “a bag of drugs looking like trail mix.” The collection closes out with “Good News,” which showcases Shadow’s abstract instrumental storytelling, and his suitably cinematic collaboration with Academy Award-winning film composer Steven Price (Gravity, Attack the Block) for the track “Corridors.”
Leon Ware’s self-titled 1982 album has long been a holy grail for rare groove record collectors. Indeed, mint copies are rarely found for less than £100. So Be With Records, a new vinyl-only reissue label, is pleased to mark it’s first release with Ware’s classic – a set that features the timeless Why I Came To California, a beautiful example of early 80s soul funk. A truly unsung legend, Leon Ware has written a stunning variety of classic soul music over the course of six decades. He joined Motown in the late 60s and became one of the label’s key writers. His most indelible contribution at Motown was Marvin Gaye’s masterpiece I Want You. Ware’s production and songwriting memorably took Gaye to another creative level. Despite recording a handful of critically acclaimed solo albums for Motown and Elektra, including this one here, he has remained a secret to many outside the music industry. Be With Records hope this timely reissue goes some way to rectifying that.

Indeed, Turkey, released in 2015, is Chapter 3 of the Krol saga; here, finally, are it’s long-lost predecessors. Self-released in 2011, I Hate Jazz was the opening salvo of World War Krol. Only 500 copies were pressed; they were given away to anyone who showed interest (and many who showed none whatsoever). Including Krol classics like “Fifteen Minutes” and “Like a Star,” the record has long been unavailable. Trust Fund followed in 2013; it’s 500 copies sold out on the ensuing tour, fueling a mini-mania that would elevate it to cult status. This set includes both records on freshly pressed Merge vinyl; an illuminating selection of digital outtakes, demos, and B-sides; and a fold-out poster showcasing a selection of Mike Krol ephemera.

Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village and The Magic Shop Studios in New York City, the album is the group’s first to be released on a major label. Since Interpol’s contract with Matador had expired, it was initially speculated that Interpol would sign with Interscope Records. However, drummer Sam Fogarino rejected these claims as “pure speculation”. It was later confirmed that the band would sign to a major label, though they chose Capitol over Interscope.

Limited purple vinyl LP pressing of this album from the former ABBA vocalist. Something’s Going On is the third solo album by Swedish singer Anni-Frid Lyngstad (Frida), one of the founding members of the Swedish pop group ABBA, and her first album recorded entirely in English. Her last two albums had been recorded in Swedish. Recorded in 1982 during the final months of ABBA, Something’s Going On was first released in September 1982. Produced by Phil Collins, the drummer and singer of the rock band Genesis, the album featured a harder-edged and more rock-oriented sound than that of ABBA’s music, including Collins’ distinctive gated reverb drum sound. The album was met with a positive reception by both critics and the public, with sales in excess of 1.5 million copies, making it the best-selling solo record of any of the ABBA members to date.
