Philippe Besombes/Un Film du Groupe Pattern
Limited blue vinyl LP reissue of the incredible experimental soundtrack from one of France’s pioneers of electronic ambient music, Philippe Besombes. Philippe Besombes was commissioned by the filmmakers’ collective Pattern to write and record a soundtrack for their 1973 project, Libra. The young electronician dove in headfirst, and the resulting LP released in 1974 is a testimonial to the flurry of ideas Besombes – and the filmmakers – had. Fragmented into 17 short episodes, mostly in the one- to three- minute range, the music touches bases with dozens of styles, from acid rock to musique concrète, from country to Stockhausen. Besombes was a Ph.D. student with an abiding interest in contemporary electro-acoustic music, an interest that led him to collaborate and play with Jean Michel Jarre, Jean-Francois Dessoliers (as PJF) and Jean-Louis Rizet (as Pole).
Hang is Foxygen’s third album for Jagjaguwar, and their first proper studio record, recorded in Los Angeles, CA at Electro Vox Studios. Hang features Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips, as well as Brian and Michael D’Addario of the Lemon Twigs as players on the album. Hang also features a 40+ piece symphony orchestra on every track. Trey Pollard from Spacebomb arranged and conducted the orchestral parts, with additional arranging from Matthew E. White. Foxygen is the Big Bang of two combusting minds. It’s the splayed Galaxy of polar geniuses Sam France and Jonathan Rado. It’s a handshake with a knife behind your back. A sleepless night in a five star hotel. You listen to Hang properly. You take in each moment. Each new melody that threads forward from the fingertips of one of this generation’s finest piano men in Rado.
Joan of Arc/He’s Got The Whole This Land Is Your Land In His Hands
Vinyl LP pressing includes digital download. “Twenty years now there’s been this thing, our band, Joan of Arc. Sometimes we forget about it and let it fizzle out for a year while we tend to our lives. Sometimes we cling to it for a year and wake up surprised and exhausted every day for months on end, given walking tours of old Italian towns, browsing dreary British pedestrian malls or barefooted organic grocers on the Pacific coast. We know how lucky we are. “The less we feel like a band – the more we can continue to be a band, but escape that feeling of doing all those shitty, corny things expected of bands – the truer to ourselves we feel. And you all know it, everyone knows it even if everyone has to bury it to get on with their day-to-day: the truer to ourselves we feel, the better everything gets. We have shifted shapes and modified our approaches quite a number of times in the course of twenty years. And we’ve done so always aiming to stay true to ourselves at that moment, by instinct and with conscious intent. This time, it took us a long time to figure out how to start back up. We threw away a lot of songs and started over, over and over.

FUNKADELIC / FINEST – Compilations are tricky and hard to get right… ‘Finest’ is that rare one that knocks it out of the park. This release focuses on George Clinton and crew at the height of their career & on their most renowned work. – Comprised out of sixteen carefully selected tracks and covering a 6 year period (1970-1976), ‘Finest’ may be the best-assembled Funkadelic collection from this period yet, as both renowned band standards share space with several oft-overlooked tracks. – The early tracks “I Got a Thing” and “I Wanna Know if It’s Good to You” show the band-members still honing their rich ‘n’ funky sound, before they hit their stride with selections from the classic ‘Maggot Brain’ album. As a result, you get a healthy sampling of some of the best funk the ’70s had to offer, including “Hit It and Quit It,” “You and Your Folks, Me and My Folks,” “Loose Booty,” “Cosmic Slop,” “Red Hot Mama,” and “Get Off Your Ass and Jam.” – ‘Finest’ is an exceptional sampler for those discovering the wild and wacky universe of Funkadelic. – Out of print since 1997 and transferred from the original analogue master tapes, now finally back available as a deluxe Double-LP set with some of the craziest psychedelic crumb-style artwork you’ll ever see.
Vinyl LP pressing. In a musical world where heated debates rage constantly, here is a statement that no one can dispute – Run-DMC is one of the most important and influential groups in rap history. Forming in the early ’80s and guided by Russell Simmons (who was, of course, Run’s brother), the three-man unit were lyrical and musical pioneers from their first, Larry Smith-helmed foray: 1983’s “It’s Like That, ” with the world-shaking b-side, “Sucker M.C.’s.” With a string of gold and platinum albums that started with Run-DMC in 1984 and ran through 1988’s Tougher Than Leather, the trio changed the course of music (videos, youth culture, and more) and ruled the genre outright, boasting sales numbers that were neck-and-neck with manufactured pop stars of the day. Part of their charm was their every-man appeal – they didn’t dress like rock stars, and they didn’t act like them either. They just made amazing music.

Pink Floyd/A Momentary Lapse Of Reason
Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Momentary Lapse Of Reason is the 13th studio album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, released in the UK and US in September 1987. It followed guitarist David Gilmour’s decision to include material recorded for his third solo album on a new Pink Floyd album with drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Richard Wright. Although for legal reasons Wright could not be re-admitted to the band, Wright and Mason helped Gilmour craft what became the first Pink Floyd album since the December 1985 departure of bass guitarist, singer, and primary songwriter Roger Waters. A Momentary Lapse of Reason was recorded primarily on Gilmour’s converted houseboat, Astoria. It’s production was marked by an ongoing legal dispute with Waters as to who owned the rights to Pink Floyd’s name, an issue resolved several months after the album was released. Unlike many of Pink Floyd’s studio albums, A Momentary Lapse of Reason has no central theme and is instead a collection of songs written by Gilmour, sometimes with outside songwriters.
Pink Floyd/The Final Cut
Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. The Final Cut is the twelfth studio album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, originally released on 21 March 1983. It is Pink Floyd’s last studio album to include founding member, bass guitarist and songwriter Roger Waters, and their only album on which he alone is credited for writing and composition. It is also the only Pink Floyd album that does not feature keyboardist Richard Wright. Waters originally planned The Final Cut as a soundtrack album for the 1982 film Pink Floyd – The Wall. With the onset of the Falklands War, he rewrote it as a concept album, exploring what he considered the betrayal of his father, who died serving in the Second World War. Waters sings most of the lyrics; lead guitarist David Gilmour provides vocals on only one track. The packaging, also designed by Waters, reflects the album’s war theme.
